Thank you to all who attended the Scratch Choir 2024

We performed a varied programme of opera choruses alongside a choral work by Brahms as follows:

Verdi Brindisi from La Traviata

Verdi Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco

Sibelius Finlandia Chorus

Handel Zadok the Priest

All the music was provided in free easy-to-read, downloadable singer booklets (printouts will be available on request). Links to videos with individual choral parts were included with performance notes.

There were optional rehearsal on Monday 6th May at St Columba's Church, Lerwick from 7-9pm. 

The weekend rehearsals began with optional rehearsals on Friday 10th May at Islesburgh Centre, Lerwick, from 2–5 pm and 6-9 pm followed by a social event at the Lerwick Boating Club from 9–11 pm.

On the day, we met for choir practice at the Bowls Hall, Clickimin Centre, Lerwick at 9.30 am. and the orchestra joins us at 2.30 pm for a full rehearsal, and the concert started at 7.30 pm. 

All singers are welcome and we are hoping that many will join us who do not sing regularly with a choir, sing with other choral groups in Shetland or travel from further afield.

The cost of joining as a singer, including music downloads, is £20 per person.  

Places for singers aged 18 or under are free and can be registered on the bookings page.

We would encourage you to book your places early to help us with the planning the event.

Concert tickets are £10 and available online or on the door.

Tickets for all 18 and under are free.

The orchestra rehearsals took place at St Columba's Church, Lerwick, as follows:

Sunday 28th April 2–4 pm

Sunday 5th May 2–4 pm

Friday 10th May 7–9 pm

followed by a social event at 

Lerwick Boating Club, 9–11 pm.

The afternoon full rehearsal at the Bowls Hall, Clickimin Centre was at 2.30 pm with the concert at 7.30 pm.
